A healthy diet is an important factor that improves performance by providing the energy the body needs during sports. Carbohydrates, as the body's main source of energy, increase endurance and delay fatigue during sports. Energy levels can be kept in balance by taking complex carbohydrates from sources such as whole grains and fruits. Inadequate carbohydrate intake can lead to rapid fatigue and poor performance. Likewise, healthy fats fulfil long-term energy needs and support metabolism.
Proteins are critical for muscle repair and development after exercise. Muscles are damaged at the micro level during exercise and protein intake is necessary to repair these damages. Protein sources such as eggs, meat, dairy products help strengthen muscles and support sports performance. In addition, adequate fluid intake is also of great importance during sports. While dehydration reduces performance, adequate water consumption maintains body balance and prevents energy loss.
Vitamins and minerals are also essential nutrients that the body needs during sports. Elements such as iron, calcium and vitamin D support muscle and bone health and improve sports performance. Sport, supported by a healthy diet, improves both physical and mental health and provides a stronger and more durable body structure in the long term.
